Individuals can choose to leave the Catholic Church if they wish.

TABLE OF CONTENT

Catholic Church teaches that membership in the Church is a matter of personal choice, and it is up to each individual to decide whether they want to remain a member.

If an individual decides they no longer want to be a part of the Catholic Church, they can formally request to be removed from the Church’s rolls. This process is known as “defection” or “defrocking.”

It is important to note that defection from the Catholic Church does not necessarily mean that an individual has to abandon their faith or belief in God. It simply means that they are no longer members of the Catholic Church and are no longer subject to its teachings and practices.
