In the Bible, God is described as loving, merciful, and having perfect, unconditional love for all people.

7 things God hates

However, the Bible lists several things God considers sinful or wrong. These include:

1. Pride

Pride is characterized by excessive self-importance or self-righteousness and can lead to arrogance, entitlement, and a lack of humility. In the Bible, pride is often described as a sin because it can lead to a person forgetting their dependence on God and their need for His grace and mercy.

2. Dishonesty

God values honesty and integrity and considers lying a serious sin. Lying can harm others and damage relationships, which goes against the values of truth and honesty that God upholds.

3. Injustice

God values justice and fairness and hates it when people mistreat others or act unfairly. This can include violence, oppression, and exploitation, which go against God’s command to love one’s neighbor as oneself (Matthew 22:39).

4. Idolatry

God considers idolatry, or the worship of false gods, a serious sin. In the Bible, idolatry is often associated with turning away from God and His ways and choosing to follow other gods or put other things in His place.

5. Disobedience

God expects His people to follow His commands and obey His will. Disobedience can involve failing to follow God’s commands or turning away from Him, which can have serious consequences.

6. Haughty eyes

“Haughty eyes” refers to a proud or arrogant attitude and can lead to a lack of humility and an inability to see things from the perspective of others. In the Bible, haughty eyes are often associated with a lack of respect for others and overconfidence in oneself.

7. A heart that devises wicked schemes

“A heart that devises wicked schemes” refers to a heart bent on causing harm or mischief and can lead to a lack of compassion and a willingness to harm others for personal gain. In the Bible, a heart that devises wicked schemes is often associated with selfishness and a lack of concern for the well-being of others.

It is important to remember that a loving and merciful God offers forgiveness to those who repent of their sins and turn toward Him.
