Siddhartha Gautama story

Siddhartha Gautama – founder of Buddhism, was born in the 6th century BCE in Lumbini, in modern-day Nepal.

Siddhartha Gautama was a spiritual teacher and the founder of Buddhism. He was born in Lumbini, in modern-day Nepal, in approximately 563 BCE. His father was King Suddhodana, the king of the Shakya clan, and his mother, Queen Mahamaya, died shortly after his birth.

As a prince, Siddhartha had a comfortable life, shielded from the suffering of the world. However, at the age of 29, he left his palace and saw for the first time the realities of old age, sickness, and death. He was deeply moved by the suffering he witnessed, and he resolved to seek a way to end it.

Siddhartha left his family and embarked on a spiritual quest, first studying with various teachers and then practicing extreme asceticism. However, after years of this, he still had not found the answers he was looking for. He realized that the path to enlightenment lay in the middle way, a path between the extremes of self-indulgence and self-mortification.

Siddhartha Gautama story

One day, as he was meditating under a Bodhi tree, Siddhartha achieved enlightenment. He saw the cause of suffering and the way to end it, and he became the Buddha, which means “the awakened one.” He then spent the rest of his life teaching others about his discoveries, known as the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.

Siddhartha Gautama, or the Buddha, died at the age of 80, having spent his life teaching and guiding others towards enlightenment. His teachings continue to inspire millions of people around the world to this day.
