The 7 pillars of Islam are:
1. Shahada: The declaration of faith, which is the belief in the oneness of God and the belief that Muhammad is the prophet of God.
2. Salah: The performance of the five daily prayers, obligatory for all adult Muslims and performed at specific times throughout the day.
3. Zakat: Giving alms or charity to those in need is considered a form of purification of one’s wealth and is mandatory for those who are financially able.
4. Sawm: Fasting during the month of Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered to be a time for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and devotion.
5. Hajj: The pilgrimage to Mecca is required of all Muslims who are financially and physically able to make the journey at least once in their lifetime.
6. Khums: Giving a fixed percentage of one’s wealth, a form of charity used to support the community and is typically given to those in need.
7. Jihad: Striving or struggling in the way of God, which can include acts of self-control, such as resisting temptation or working to improve oneself, and military action in defense of the faith. It is important to note that the concept of jihad has been widely debated among Islamic scholars and is not limited to warfare.
