In Islam, a man can marry a second wife under the following conditions:
- The first wife gives her consent.
- The man can support both wives financially.
- The man treats both wives equally in all aspects, including emotional and physical support.
- The man must be just and fair to both wives.
- The man must fulfill all the marital rights of both wives.
- The man must avoid favoritism and show impartiality towards both wives.
- The man must not cause harm or injustice to either wife.
The decision to marry multiple wives should be based on one’s ability to fulfill the rights and obligations of all wives justly and fairly.
Polygamy is discouraged in Islam and should only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Some countries have laws regulating polygamy and may place additional restrictions on it, so it’s important to consult both religious teachings and local laws before entering a polygamous marriage.
