Does Buddhism have a god?

Buddhism does not have a central creator god in the way that some other religious traditions do.

Instead, Buddhism is often considered a non-theistic or atheistic religion. The focus in Buddhism is on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Buddha, who attained enlightenment and shared his insights into the nature of suffering and the path to liberation.

While there are celestial beings, gods, and various deities in traditional Buddhist cosmology, they are not considered ultimate or eternal beings.

In Buddhism, the emphasis is on understanding and transcending suffering through the Four Noble Truths and following the Eightfold Path rather than worshiping a personal god.

Different Buddhist traditions may have variations in their beliefs and practices, but the absence of a creator god is a common feature across most Buddhist schools.
