Halal definition

According to Islamic law, Halal is a term used to describe food and drink permissible for Muslims to consume.

Halal is an Arabic term meaning “permissible” or “lawful.” In the context of food and drink, it refers to items that are permissible for Muslims to consume according to Islamic law. This includes meat from animals that have been slaughtered in a specific way, known as “zabihah,” which involves the animal being blessed and draining all blood from the meat.

Other foods considered halal include those that do not contain prohibited ingredients such as pork or alcohol. In addition, halal food must be prepared, cooked, and stored separately from non-halal food and should not come into contact with non-halal utensils or equipment.

In addition to food and drink, the term halal is also used to describe other aspects of Islamic life, such as financial transactions and personal behavior. In these cases, halal refers to actions that are permissible under Islamic law and in line with the teachings of the Quran and the Hadith (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad).

It’s also important to mention that there are also some specific Halal certification bodies that certify products that meet halal standards and are labeled as halal for Muslim consumers.
